The success story of the original Garrison Seed & Co., Inc. parallels the success story of the three men who had the vision and the energy to make a dream work: S.L. Garrison; his son, Harvey Garrison; and Arthur M. Stoy.
Founded in Hereford, Texas in 1967 primarily to contract-produce seed for seed companies, it was only a short time before the admiration for the expertise and dedication of these three men and their company spread. Their reputation for producing top quality grain and forage sorghum hybrids won the respect of the seed industry and grain producers, both domestically and internationally. By the mid 1970's the Company developed and released its own product line, increasing that respect as additional clients and seed varieties were added. By this time Garrison Seed Co. had grown to seven and one-half times its original size.
Following a purchase of the Company by a major concern in 1989, and a name change to Garrison Seed Co., S.L. Garrison and Bill Townsend re-purchased the Company in 1991. Returning to the strengths and dedication that built the original Garrison Seed & Co., Garrison & Townsend, Inc. has aggressively established a strong research and development organization. We now feature new, exciting and superior hybrid grain sorghums, as well as forage sorghums, and hybrid pearl millets for forage and grain.
Innovative conditioning and sizing and a customer driven focus in our approach to business, the Company has exceptional hybrids. The growth of Garrison & Townsend, Inc. has been excellent, and our products can be found throughout the United States as well as South America, Central America, Mexico, the Middle East, the Far East, and India.
